It's all about the little things you guys! This year I am setting a goal for myself to reduce the waste that I produce as much as possible. I deep dove into a YouTube black hole of zero waste queens and I have been changed! Although adopting a totally zero waste lifestyle isn't always attainable, making small changes to every day products you use can make a big difference. I wanted to share some of the products I use to help me reduce my waste! I am nowhere near perfect and have a long way to go but it is definitely a journey I'm still walking.

Thinx: I'm sure you guys have seen ads for Thinx. They're blowing up the period spot on the interwebs. I was very hesitant to try period underwear because the concept seemed a little funky to me. But seeing all this plastic add up from my monthly visitor always hurt my heart so I decided to give Thinx a try and I'm glad I did! They work amazingly for me and never ever feel gross even after a full day at work. I bought the cotton brief and bikini and I will never look back! Bamboo toothbrushes: My toothbrush was never something I thought about as I was trying to become more eco friendly but it makes total sense! Most people use plastic toothbrushes and we're told to replace them every few months creating more and more waste. I saw someone on Youtube recommend bamboo toothbrushes as an alternative and they're great! I found mine on amazon* and they get the job done.
Klean Kanteen: LOVE LOVE LOVE. Klean Kanteen make some amazing stainless steel cups/tumblers/food containers. The insulated ones are truly a miracle of science and can keep iced and hot drinks the temperature they're supposed to be for hours at a time. I once had actual ice cubes from iced water in my klean kanteen bottle 24 hrs later! Use these instead of those plastic or Styrofoam cups with your morning coffee or smoothie.
Reusable plastic bags:These are some of the coolest zero waste products I've seen! I pack both my breakfast and lunch to bring to work with me so I'm always in need of something to transport the goods. I am a big fan of using Tupperware instead of plastic "Ziploc" bags but sometimes you just need a bag! I've bought both these* from amazon and these from Target and I love em all.
Reusable Straws: Reusable straws are key! Plastic straws are one of the biggest contributors to waste. Even if you can't always have a reusable mug or cup on you using a reusable straw will make a big difference. Whenever you are out at a bar or restaurant try to ask for no straw from your waitstaff or bar tender. Small changes like this are what make an impact!
Lush shampoo bars: I've talked about my Lush favorites in another post but these lil guys are great. A plastic free way to wash those locks. The shampoo bars I've had keep for what seems like months without getting any smaller! I think the one I'm using right now I've had for about 4 months and it's still going strong. Lush also has other "naked" packaging free products to meet those skin care needs.
What are your favorite eco friendly products? I love to see what creative things people come up with for helping to lessen our footprints!
