Intuitive Eating Inspiration
We all eat food. That is one of the reasons I've always felt able to connect with people through my work as a registered dietitian. Even if my patients don't want to talk to me about diet education, their current bowel pattern or medical status they will always have at least something to say about their food. In my career and personal life I've gone through a big shift in mindset recently with the more I've learned about Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size. With this post I wanted to share some inspiring quotes on these topics as well as links to some blog posts about how to begin this journey. I'll share more about how intuitive eating looks for me and my dietetic practice in upcoming posts but for now I hope you enjoy!
My Favorite Zero-Waste Products
It's all about the little things you guys! This year I am setting a goal for myself to reduce the waste that I produce as much as possible. I deep dove into a YouTube black hole of zero waste queens and I have been changed! Although adopting a totally zero waste lifestyle isn't always attainable, making small changes to every day products you use can make a big difference. I wanted to share some of the products I use to help me reduce my waste! I am nowhere near perfect and have a long way to go but it is definitely a journey I'm still walking.
Recently, Lush Cosmetics and I are having a moment. You could say we've entered a committed relationship. I've known about Lush for years and tried an odd product here or there but over the last few months my love for them has grown exponentially. I always thought there was nothing for me there because I never used to have a suitable bath tub for bath bombs but I was definitely mistaken. I have fallen in love with Lush's skin/body/hair care and wanted to share a few of my favorites!
Favorite Coffee Shops
I feel like I have to preface this post by saying I don't actually drink coffee. My favorite coffee shops might be different from the picks of someone who actually enjoys coffee. My favorites are those that include tasty tea drinks, good food and a good atmosphere. I love parking my butt in a coffee shop with my laptop and headphones and getting some work or studying done. I love meeting a friend there to catch up and people watch while digging in to some delicious food or baked treats.
Pinterest Recipes Tested
Pinterest has some pretty crazy recipes. It can take a while to sift through and find things that are truly tasty and easy to include in your regular rotation. I've seen some really great pinterest fails but I wanted to share some of my successes. I use my recipe and food boards for inspiration all the time to find new recipes for parties or to switch up our routine. If I try a recipe and it comes out good I have a separate board where I move these pins to help keep myself organized!
I probably don't have any regular readers at this point but I hope at least someone noticed I was gone! It's been a while since I've posted and things have been pretty dang busy! (I'm most likely just using that an excuse but let's roll with it!)
So let's review what's happened in my life since November!
Travel Bucket List
I've always loved traveling. My family took summer vacations every year, usually down to Cape Cod, Maine, or some other scenic New England summer destination. Road trips were my jam. I've always had pretty severe flight anxiety but one I took my first cross country flight to California it opened up more travel possibilities for me. I still get very anxious when I fly but now I know what the experience is like and how to best prepare myself for the journey.
Current Favorite Snacks
I am all about snacks. I pretty much have a snack packed with me whereever I go. I eat both my breakfast and lunch at work and you better believe I bring multiple snacks with me to eat throughout the day. There's nothing worse than sitting in a meeting hungry. Or being stuck in traffic on the way home daydreaming about something tasty. I thought I would share with you guys some of the snacks I've been loving lately. This list is in no way comprehensive but here are some of my favorites!
New Hampshire Highland Games
The Highland Games are a Scottish tradition. Usually held in the summer they typically celebrate Scottish heritage and have athletic competitions. Every year the NH Scot holds the New Hampshire Highland Games at Loon Mountain. We decided to go for one day this year and I'm so glad we did!
A Weekend in Burlington, Vermont
I love a good weekend getaway. Don't get me wrong, I'll take an extended trip any day but sometimes it's nice to just drive a few hours and be in a different place for a couple days. My better half is not the vacation type, he'd rather be working (crazy, right?) but I convinced him to spend a few days in Vermont with me this Labor Day weekend.
